How Does It Work?
To get started with Say Hello, complete your profile with some basic information, including your interests—like exercise, biking, or other hobbies you enjoy. You can choose to receive notifications for potential romantic interests, but there’s no matchmaking algorithm—any connection will unfold naturally after you’ve met. For business networking, you can add a brief description of what you do, not to match you by field, but simply to provide context that can spark real, organic conversations. Finally, answer a few fun, insightful survey questions that showcase your personality, offering others a glimpse into who you are beyond the basics.
Say Hello’s core feature is the proximity notification, designed to make your first interaction simple and genuine. When you come within 30 yards of another active user, both of you receive a notification. If both accept, you can view each other’s profiles, highlighting any shared interests to help break the ice, as well as unique interests that may spark curiosity. All it takes from there is a simple greeting—no pressure, no expectations. The app is about nothing more than saying hello, letting the connection unfold naturally from that first moment of shared curiosity.
The next step in making your connection official is scanning a QR code. Once you’ve greeted each other, simply open the app, and either of you can scan the QR code we provide. This quick action confirms the connection and pins it to the Say Hello virtual map—a visual reminder of the meaningful encounter you just had. It’s not just a digital handshake; it’s a way to celebrate the moment and keep a record of the people you’ve met along your journey. With the QR scan, the app helps turn your hello into a lasting memory for all to see.
Capture the moment and make it unforgettable by taking a selfie together. After you’ve scanned the QR code, the app will prompt you to snap a quick photo with your new connection. This isn’t just a picture; it’s a fun, visual memory that gets attached to your pin on the Say Hello map. It’s a small but meaningful way to commemorate the interaction and give you something to look back on later. The selfie feature keeps it light and spontaneous, making sure you remember not just the meeting, but the shared smile and the moment of connection.
Deepen your connection with Say Hello’s unique follow-up experience. After your initial greeting, we give you both a little time before sharing the next step: your survey answers. This is where you get a deeper glimpse into the person you met, revealing fun and insightful details like favorite movies, memorable adventures, or hidden talents. It’s not about algorithms or forced matches—it’s about learning something genuine and unexpected. At this stage, if there’s a mutual romantic interest or a potential business connection, the app will notify both of you. From here, you have the option to continue the conversation organically, with a secure chat feature that lets you stay in touch without sharing personal contact details until you’re ready. First, you only see each other’s profiles if both of you accept the initial invitation—if only one of you agrees, the profiles remain hidden, leaving no room for personal judgment or awkwardness. Romantic or business interests aren’t disclosed immediately; instead, they’re shared later when survey responses are delivered, allowing connections to form naturally. If you decide to stay in touch but the other person doesn’t, they won’t know, eliminating the discomfort of being ignored or “ghosted.” Finally, our monthly prize drawings shift the focus away from any underlying expectations to fun, shared goals, and shared experiences. Say Hello makes connecting fun, but we knew it had to be accessible anytime, day or night. That’s why we introduced "Hangouts, Hookups, Hootsas, and Hollas," all found on the “What’s Happening” page. Hangouts are local businesses called "Hello Hangouts," perfect venues for meeting up in a friendly atmosphere. With Hookups, you get exclusive discounts at these Hello Hangouts, giving you an extra incentive to visit and start new conversations. Next, there are Hootsas—social meetups that anyone can organize through the app, making it easy to create spontaneous gatherings, whether it’s a morning hike or a late-night coffee run. Lastly, stay informed with Hollas, our announcements about local events and activities. This blend of venues, deals, meetups, and updates makes meeting someone new, boosting your opportunities for real connections while supporting local businesses.

Each time a connection is made within your preferences, a donation is automatically triggered.
While you have the freedom to support any cause, we highlight a specific disease or organization each month to keep it top of mind—until the day no further spotlight is needed. Beyond Hello will also feature a map, reminding those battling for their lives that they are not alone and providing all of us an opportunity to draw inspiration from their strength.
